Footprint is the future of Child Support Payments Footprint Private Maintenance Agreement is an online system which allows parents who no longer live together to arrange child maintenance payments without the need to use the Child Support Agency or pay the surcharge they are soon going to introduce.

The Child Support Agency will soon introduce charges to use their service. You will pay anywhere between £87 and £7,519 a year. If you decide to use the new CSA 'gross income' scheme the first stage is a calculation. This will cost the Parent With Care (PWC) an upfront calculation fee of £20.00. Once payments start the Non Resident Parent (NRP) will have to pay a surcharge on their payments at a rate of 20%. This extra money all goes to the CSA so is dead money which will not reach the PWC. In addition the PWC will have a further 12% deducted from the payment made to them - more dead money the NRP has paid but which does not go to support the children. For example, on a weekly maintenance assessment of £50.00, the NRP would actually pay £60 per week but the PWC would only receive £44 per week. Over a one year period that would amount to £832 paid to the CSA none of which would go to the PWC. On top of that there is a possible further charge of as much as £120.00 arising from application fees. For a single payment of only £5 the Footprint program gives you the ability to carry out three separate calculations over any 12 month period. Each calculation will work out your monthly payment and also calculate the annual savings you can make by not using the CSA scheme and thus avoiding the surcharges. What is more, for a small extra charge of £4.99, Footprint can supply you with a written agreement so everyone is clear about what they pay or receive.
